`Apono Hawai`i has offered a dollar for dollar match for every gift we raise in support of pono aquaculture in Hawai`i, up to $3,000. That means your gift goes twice as far!
Today, off-shore industrial-scale, export-oriented fish farms are on the rise, and Hawai`i is being viewed as a fertile testbed for these business ventures. At the same time, we've starved our regulatory system of the resources or legal structure to handle these proposals, and appropriately assure the long-term health of our public trust waters. Hawai`i deserves better!
Your gift will help KAHEA to:
- Champion legislation prohibiting the use of pharmachemicals in Hawai`i's open oceans.
- Support Kohala and Kona Coast communities demanding a public hearing on a proposed industrial-scale ahi farm.
- Fund a facilitator for the Pono Aquaculture Alliance (PA`A). This coalition is working to advocate for pono aquaculture, healthy oceans, and local food sovereignty.
