KAHEA's summer intern Erika Chairez invites supporters to attend the upcoming public hearings and learn more about monk seal critical habitat.

Hello? Can you HEAR me?--Public hearings around the corner!

Aloha Everyone! My name is Erika Chairez and I am an intern this summer for KAHEA. I am a senior at Texas A&M University studying Wildlife Conservation and Anthropology.

I am helping with KAHEA’s campaign to expand critical habitat for monk seals and let me tell you this is an exciting time to be in Hawaii.
Conservation efforts for the Hawaiian monk seal have been in the works for several years and now 11,000 square miles of proposed critical habitat is steps closer to becoming officially designated.

I’m inviting supporters of monk seal critical habitat to come and make your voices heard! Monk seal hearings are being held throughout the islands, August 8-16. I will definitely be at the O’ahu hearing representing KAHEA’s everlasting fight to protect Hawaii’s culture, resources, and rights.
