Making a Legacy Gift
Planned giving is a powerful way to leave a legacy for Hawai`i nei, and can have an incredible impact. Making a legacy gift in your will or other part of your estate planning, can make possible special projects and new initiatives that regular gifts and income cannot cover.
KAHEA is a charitable, not-for-profit organization. All bequests to KAHEA are fully deductible for estate tax purposes. KAHEA's tax identification number is #99-0348025.
A simple paragraph added to an existing will, is often all that’s required to make a bequest. For example, here are a few of the most common kinds of bequests:
“I give and bequeath $___ to KAHEA: The Hawaiian-Environmental Alliance to be used for as the Board of Directors determines.” (General Bequest)
“I give and bequeath ___ percent of the total value of my estate to KAHEA: The Hawaiian-Environmental Alliance to use as the Board of Directors determines.” (Bequest of Percentage)
“I give and bequeath the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, wherever situated, to KAHEA: The Hawaiian-Environmental Allinace, to be used as the Board of Directors determines.” (Bequest of Residue, a gift made after all other bequests have been fulfilled)
Another way to make a planned gift is to name KAHEA as the beneficiary of an insurance policy or as the recipient of your IRA or retirement fund.
